We are proud members of Flowers from the Farm, the membership association that champions nearly 1000 independant growers of local, seasonal cut flowers across the UK.
Flowers from the Farm work hard to promote British grown flowers and sustainable floristry practices, over the last few years the movement has started to build in popularity and lots of new artisan flowers farmers have been springing up across the country.
We were delighted to hear that sustainably-grown, scented, spring flowers are set to decorate the Quire and the Grave of the Unknown Warrior of Westminster Abbey for the coronation ceremony, a gift to Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla from Flowers from the Farm.
The flowers used at tomorrow's ceremony have been grown in harmony with the seasons, outdoors, and in poly tunnels, on flower fields, allotments and cutting gardens across the UK. The flowers are being arranged by Shane Connolly, an advocate of sustainable floristry, no plastic or floral foam will be used.
It is wonderful that the beauty of British seasonal flowers will be at the heart to the celebration and it is a landmark moment for the British flower movement. We are so happy that local, seasonal flowers will be at the heart of a state occasion.
